Afroditi Dikaiakou

this interview found me in:
At Deree-ACG to work on my Student Research Assistant job and later study before and after class.

the last time I got lost in …:
the last time I got lost in… Syros. It was not too long ago. I was there volunteering for the AnimaSyros festival, and I had a couple of hours before clocking in, so I decided to wander around -without using a map. There are no signs in the alleys and in most parts you can only get to by walking, so I got to take some amazing photos of hidden "gems." And I saw a lot of cats. Every corner I would turn there east at least one cat.

my favourite pictogram/sign is:
My favorite sign is the wayfinding sign for the New York Subway. Though I have never been to New York, when I was doing research on wayfinding systems and maps, Massimo Vignelli's NY map kept appearing before me.

And I must mention the pictograms for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

three numbers about myself:
21 and 7, I must say those two for sure. I was born on the 21st of July and also, they are lucky numbers on their own. 21 is lucky in blackjack and 7 is considered lucky across a lot of cultures, the seven days of creation, the seven chakras and nowadays, what gives the highest payouts in slot machines? 🤭 the third number I would say about myself... it must be an even number now; I do like some balance in my day to day life though I barely get any... I will say 8, since it’s the only symmetrical number besides zero.

my preferred colour combination:
I love orange but In designs when the design is dark, I am addicted to neon purple and green paired with black. But when its light, a teal and dark pink I am also very fond of.

something I would like to show:
My little Arlekin friend from a very very short animation I did about a year ago. Never stop experimenting! Even if I am leaning towards UX/UI design animation and illustration has always been a passion of mine. Taking a break from your goals and "testing the waters" is never bad, you might find what you truly want, or you will become much more detriment to achieve your goal.

my mission in the jury:
I want everyone to achieve their goals, and I want to be a part in helping people do so. My mission is to maintain and uphold the values we look for in information design
